Those Mimi Parker like vocals (Mary Alice Mitchell) are the first thing to fall for, they snag because we love Low so much. Besides that beautiful fact there is a grandiose feel to ‘Side Man’. I’d go even further by saying greatness fills the air and they do so by capturing a certain Fleetwood Mac-ness without sounding in the least bit bland in the process. South Carolina’s the High Divers have the makings of a fave new band and all achieved with the less than matey theme that tickles the underbelly of an unhappy relationship. KH
