Makes for a stark but illuminating opening, a languid vocal to steer us back to earth in case the thin extra-terrestrial air gave us the bends. This Austin act have a chiming side too, one that gives ‘Hear Them Coming’ plenty of softness amid the harder elements. Gamma Dog give us plenty but I couldn’t help feeling they have the potential to get even better. Their debut album is due later in 2019, so we’ll find out soon enough. KH
