You know I had it pegged as too retro, country and old timey folk for me but that was just a silly observation before it had yet became obvious what a truly magical singer we had on our hands here. Yep there is a view of prairie in there, the yellow brick road too, but included gratis is a piece of songwriting to prize any indie snobbery from our thoughts. Instead we let the music have its wicked way and that carousel of sound had us hurtling back to a more innocent time when most everything was possible. This is a song of redemption from the gifted LA based Chelsea Williams. If you are in the market for happiness and good old fashioned sweetness, and let’s face it who isn’t in virus ravaged 2020, then ‘Beautiful and Strange’ will simply beguile you. KH
