It sounds familiar but such is the booming lead performance from Texan Mary McGuinness we just can’t but stand agog. ‘Silver Edge’ reveals a voice that can soar whenever it wants to but retains a refreshingly traditional approach with the orchestral embellishment just adding to the sense of grandeur. A tune to offering an uplifting prospective when we need it most. And there should be plenty more of the same when Mary’s ‘Prodigal’ LP comes out later this month. KH
