Now that is some reverb laden percussion, the kind that gets us giddy for what lays ahead and in a rare occasion what follows is just as enthralling. For Christina Skramstad is a singer with a sense of destiny (one that blooms in the company of Johnny Simon Jr.), swaggering but not in a way that is off-putting. There is plenty beneath the surface too, with the piano parts alone offering a narrative of their own, but it’s those words that fall from this Brooklyn based artist’s mouth that draws our attention. And there is plenty more of where that came from in the shape of City Dress’ debut EP ‘Showing Up’. Go on, treat yourself. KH
