Such an introspective opening from this French act and the kind that gets the listener invested in the growing bloom in the arrangements. ‘Run’ has a classic folk bent too but with production values that scream modern era. Still the overriding centrepiece for me was the singer who appears like someone who has spent much time in an expansive countryside such is his organic appeal. There is an off-kilter quality too, like Jeff Buckley used to do but with ever present pop quotient so while listeners may be stretched they never get the urge the need to move on. Though idiosyncratic and progressive at times this is music to challenge and thrill at the same time.
