The Very Most – Her Three-Year Year Old Laugh Or The Time The Microphones Played In My Living Room

This music blog turns 15 years old in a few weeks (being teenagers now we swear a lot, as do some of the bands we love) and few troupes, if any, have been a constant throughout like Boise’s The Very Most. When we heard them for the first time back in the noughties it was love, their brand of charming indie pop reminding of Teenage Fanclub so they were always going to be for keeps. Along the way we’ve released music together through Indiecater Records and they’ve even recorded mp3hugger’s theme tune (twice!). So it seems kinda apt that our milestone should coincide with the release of the band’s effervescent new album (out October 9) ‘Needs Help’ – they don’t. We’re proudly premiering this first single, a tune that encapsulates the Very Most experience with morning sunshine backing vocals from Gia Trotter and Holly Johnson Wallace. Main main Jeremy Jensen takes it upon himself to fill us in on the important things in life via a treasure trove of melodies, harmonies, lilting piano and moments where you’ll likely find yourself perfecting the art of the clap-along. Yep, it is happy music for happy people and even some of the sad ones could be swept along by its mission to set the bad stuff aside for a few minutes at least. Open the curtains and let the Very Most into your front room, you won’t regret it.

The Very Most are a great band! I’m jealous of people in Europe as they were able to see them live in the recent past. I have seen them live a few times and enjoy listening to their music. If you haven’t yet, you should The Very Most!
