Now you’ve made us feel that we’ve finally got the pass into the coolest late night club in town, where the jazz impresarios and cool chanteuses rub shoulders and reduce us to putty in their hands with songs like ‘Dark Minds’. It’s all easy does it first but there is fire in Vanessa Anne Redd so while a slow neat whiskey might be called for we could also do with losing our shit at the pinnacle of this song involving an intense musical reworking of turmoil and chaos. Ye old indie rock is still alive and well it seems. VAR’s third LP, ‘Sweet Way Around’, is out early in 2021. KH
