Alyson McNamara – Shutting Down

I could tell it was special from seconds in because the playing kept on deciding to go its own way against convention. But in doing so it did nothing to distract from the dreamy textures. And it was a plan and way of doing things that was built upon by Alyson’s vocal performance because it showcased a set of intonation and inflections that made for near animated conversation set to music. In short I found the whole enterprise completely beguiling. The purest indie pop imaginable from a Canadian who has obviously set out to conquer by the sheer amiability of her craft. KH
