Atmosphere in plumes so large here it could well be the second coming of the shoegaze movement of yore. ‘Your Way’ comnes courtesy of Nottingham’s Will Crumpton and his noisy swell known as Orton and has a cavalcade of chords to rival ‘Homeboy’ by Adorable and that made my insides rally around to their cause. Sure it isn’t taking the game forward all that much but there is magic in the crevices and echoing halls of reverb here and it hooks into that seam of guitar led/fey boy emoting dynamics previously captured by another 21st century act My Vitriol (albeit almost 20 years ago now). Right up my alley, it feels vital and for all the ground shaking drama here the sense of melody remains core. Orton’s debut EP ‘Sparring’ is out at the end of October, time to start tying down the furniture. KH
