Must say that opening reminded me of the Paris Angels’ ‘Perfume’, from another age and when it finally revealed itself from another mindset too for this is chamber pop rather than indie dance. And in choosing that genre Vancouver trio have created something for all of us to bed down with in the early days of 2022, a spiritual and oft religious showpiece and an unexpected redoing of the Carpenters with experimental bumps in the night included for free. You could make a case for there being something of the Joanna Newsom’s going on here, but best to just to sit back and bath in the undeniable glow of ‘God Complex’. KH
