The Mellons – Hello, Sun

Sounds to me like the kind of fare that would greet you at the gates of heaven, or at least the opening sequences would suggest as much. 30 seconds on and thereafter ‘Hello, Sun’ does get a little bit more sixties obsessed and as any Polyphonic Spree fan will tell you there is nothing wrong with such things. You know these retro fantastic tracks can go one of two ways but Salt Lake City’s the Mellons have us facing the more joyous route and so ‘Hello, Sun’ leaves us feeling summery, like we’re in the presence of ELO or the Monkees and that means that nostalgia for once is about to make a glorious comeback.
