Joyful Forfeit – Clawing At The Back Of Your Eyes

There’s definitely an ambient wind chime effect here, post-rock tendencies (Explosions in the Sky) but a singer who stands apart such is their sense of melodrama and melancholy. The twin effect is persuasive, at once uplifting and tempered but the unassailable mood appears to be one that has us believing we can fly once Joyful Forfeit are about. That they retain that sense of wonder throughout is staggering, the swells constantly reshaping to put another bright hue on the affections they shine deep inside of us. Gorgeous. KH
