The View – Shovel in his Hands

Always expecting fireworks when it comes to this Scottish act (Dundee, since 2005!) and let’s call a spade a spade ‘Shovel in his Hands’ doesn’t disappoint in that department. It chariot rides along with a certain exuberance but it is only at the chorus that it becomes clear that the View have lost none of their spark. In fact I felt a certain frisson to the track, like the boombox had taken on another form as the notes left its belly to make for something that really reminded of peak ‘Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia’ Dandy Warhols, ‘Bohemian Like Me’ in particular. Too good to ignore, has the makings of a summer anthem already. KH
