Cochlear Kill – Ruminescent

Funnily enough I heard a shoegaze progression on ‘Ruminescent’, not an obvious one until the vocals emerged and showed us a door to Ride back in the days when they were both young and exuberent. ‘Ruminescent’ is a clever work from this Melbourne act, engaging on both an instrumental and vocal level and it was enough to tell me that Cochlear Kill have something that can both evoke industrial noise and soft centers. That is a delicate balancing act but it shines through here, even if it took us to the very end to fully appreciate the goods we were dealing with. An absolute belter it other words. KH
