Pink Mario – You Know Who to Call (This Modern World)

The beats are infectious, almost motorik and definitely of a locomotive persuasion and so without even noticing we feel like we’re rocking from side to side. Pink Mario, AKA Lazlo Barclay, has a likeability streak that mixes something of the Postal Service with the Beach Boys and I felt something prog and 70’s deep in its DNA too to a degree that Bee Gees fans could well be sated. A whole lot to the piece and with the result that ‘You Know Who to Call (This Modern World)’ picks us off piecemeal so when the falsetto kicked in we just knew there was just too much to turn down. A sweet invocation, a rich heart of goodness on record. KH
