Federico Ferrandina & MATÈ e Solisti Lucani – Nested in Gray

There does seem to be a whole lot of traditional fare deep inside the heart of this track. The tinkering that opens ‘Nested in Gray’ is mesmerising and there were drifts of Richard Kirby’s work with Nick Drake flashing through my mind as a result. This orchestral composition that can’t help but fire up the imagination and though it a world away from my home territory I couldn’t help but be moved by the gestures from this Italian composer, the swoonsome cinematic sweeps designed to put the wonder and romance back in our life. A hint of Lemon Jelly but with real life instruments ‘Nested in Gray’ had me on my knees. KH
