What I like best about ‘Afterlife Without You’ is its wildness, a capacity that threatens to capsize time and again but never quite does and all the while a singer in spoken word stylee gives us something that ranks along a jaunty/agitated Mick Jagger in the prime pomp. So we get americana, the blues and good old rock and roll to a degree that it feels like there is party for everyone going on here. Personality flowing out of every orifice and so we just can’t be without this banger from the Manhattan based E. James Smith. Opportunities for good fun such as this should never be passed up. KH
