Mindy Gledhill – Pleased To Meet You

There’s a loneliness there from Mindy Gledhill, the sparseness of the playing and her vocals meaning that we feel like we’re in the midst of a song that could find favour in the gentler month of December and the adverts that are requiring of a tender soundtrack. It reminded me of ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ by Lily Allen, that heartfelt paean to (self) love evoked here and done with such subtlety. ‘Please To Meet Me’ creeps up on you, a charming build with all the orchestral trimmings you’d expect of a production with designs on sweeping all and sundry off their feet.
