Robert Ascroft – Faded Photograph (feat. Ruth Radelet)

So well named for there is a melancholy but some radiance to the aura around this track, sepia tinged and tear stained in equal measure so it is no surprise that Chromatics singer Ruth Radelet has a languid soulful style. You’ll hear the Beach House reference and for me some of the Late Cord and Low because ‘Faded Photograph’ exhibits a slowcore quality. Little by little the track changes the mood of the room, the stunning arrangements from the multi-talented Ascroft not sidelined in the least in the presence of a true chanteuse and the combination makes for awe-inspiring listen. A lightness of being to the point of aural effervescence. Just beautiful. KH
