Chapped Lips – Freebird III

The spirit of punk is alive and well it seems, well according to the cheeky chappies that are Wisconsin’s Chapped Lips. ‘Freebird III’ initially reminded me of Fontaines D.C. but there is something else besides and it is a sense of insouciance so it feels like there is a riot without the risk of the attendant prison time. And even if we’re not in on the joke the way this track constantly shifts its tempo this way and that makes for a thrilling few minutes with all the trimmings. Riffs were ablazing, beats were an inferno and the words licked up to a degree that we will all be singing the chorus before too long. KH
