Awild Mind – Boys of the Choir

Well it does the heart good to see Whipping Boy listed as an influence and I could hear it (‘Bettyclean’ of all tracks) on ‘Boys of the Choir’. The guitars, the gathering momentum and of course vocals with plenty to stir us into the kind of frenzy that is best served late in the year when we are in need of one last blow out. There might something in this for Damien Dempsey fans but the Clare based Awild Mind should strike deep into Fontaines D.C. territory too. Thrilling but practised in a most pleasing of tempered ways at the same time. KH
