Doesn’t take long for the realisation to drop that Goon are supplying an indie pop confection, giddy of beat, tempered of singing and it makes for a neat contrast that sounds all the way like a summer tune. Something altogether madcap about ‘Closer To’ and so there was exactly zero surprise when it almost went over the edge on occasion. Like a storm in a teacup but never losing its sense of wide-eyed wonder either so we could be somewhere over the rainbow and not even realise it yet. You like me could well be exhausted by the time the munchkins come round towards the end. KH
