I do like Houston’s Wails consistently go about things at their own pace, so while this is no long song ‘Animal’ works at a pace that has a grower feeling going for it. The words expressed so serenely, the playing so soothing and the general mood of something that is here to cleanse us from all the excess. Makes for a most indie pop of confection, the vocal drifts creating a chemistry that sees ‘Animal’ take on a tempered gallop. Not sure what it is about this act but they tap into something primal that gets me every time. KH
