Azure Rose – Villains

There is no doubt about it Toronto’s Azure Rose have a tropical bent to their approach, at least in an opening to a track that will be remembered for taking the 90’s alt sound with both hands and giving it a fresh makeup. It was almost like we were in ‘Bandwagonesque’ territory and in particular the wonder of Teenage Fanclub’s ‘Star Sign’. Nothing this year has taken me back to that splendid moment as ‘Villains’ marking it out as a thing of retro beauty. KH
