The Caseworker – Scene In The Viewfinder

I haven’t heard trippy jangle this good since January released their debut on the Poptones label. It is produced by a 4-piece from San Francisco called the Caseworker. The prime forces within the group are the Irish pair of Eimer Devlin and Conor Jonathan (once romantic, now platonic). Devlin creates the bold basslines that contract nicely with her own ethereal vocals. Jonathan spins the gently flickering guitars that recall some great works from the peak of the dreampop scene. Together their combined efforts are magnetically languid, just a swathe of imaginative lush noise. This song can be found on last years ‘When I Was A Young King’ and the follow up is expected in early 2008. Should make for some interesting studio sessions over the next few months. KD
