Rebekah Raa has the sort of voice that could banish a year of Sunday night blues. She is one of a gathering of folks from London town who call themselves Stricken City and a bit of investigation has revealed that they are a pretty special combo. They are planning a debut LP for the Summer but there’s a clutch of smaller recordings in their armoury to kindle an affection. This one is taken from last year’s ‘Songs About People I Know’ and reveals a multi-faceted yet easy on the senses stomper. Raa’s jumpy singing is cherisable and her band provide strong evidence that the scaffolding could soon be as precious. Soon to be activated alarm bells appear like a distant earsore. KD
