I’m well behind the pack in stoking Friendly Fires, seems the hubbub a couple of years back turned me off. Then as normally happens a track passes under my nose by chance and I’m sucker punched. ‘Jump In The Pool’ fell into earview a couple of days back and ever since I’ve been basking in its 80’s styled machinations. The song is taken from the English trio’s only album from 2008 but they are recording new stuff for the follow up as we speak. ‘Jump In The Pool’ throws the kitchen sink at it and comes out on top with flying colours. As well as picking pockets from make-uped electro legends there are elements of rave and jungle in here that will have a whole army of ex gurners leaping from their sofa’s in delight. KD
