Sporting the perfect balance between Stereolab and Electrelane ‘Weathered White’ appeared on the b-side to the 7-inch that announced Social Studies’ last full length ‘Wind Up Wooden Heart’. Would be such a shame if such a beautiful track were to be the sole domain of ye olde ancient media format so it is heartening to see it pop up here and there on the blogosphere. The 4-piece are based in San Francisco and are defined by Natalia Rogovin’s perfect girl indie vocal and the drifting organ accompaniment. ‘Weathered White’ comes out of the blocks with great intent, takes one or two breaks along the way before shuddering to a glockenspiel conclusion.
