The Big Pink – Dominos

It will be interesting to see how the Big Pink’s (they were name after sixties folksters the Band’s debut album) follow up to ‘A Brief History of Love’ turns out. They’ve intimated that it will have hip-hop influences (raised eyebrows at label 4AD I’m sure) which may flat foot fans sold on their grand electronic epic’s. And they don’t get any bigger than ‘Dominos’ which is their most successful single to date. This is wrought iron and thunder put to music and despite having a distinguished chorus it has a surprisingly jagged momentum. Still it carved the Big Pink into the psyche of a generation and how many songs can you say that about? KD
