Harper Simon’s new LP is called ‘Division Street’ and for a minute I thought I’d spotted the primary influence in it’s naming. With receding braincells […]

Blonds – Time
What this decade needs is another Dubstar and Florida band Blonds could be about to fill the gap. Well they were due to, until their mooted debut album ‘The Bad Ones’ failed to show earlier this month. Likely there is some behind the scenes label negotiations in full swing, made all the more likely if said behemoths had caught a glimpsing ear of ‘Time’. And for all that Blonds only has 2 members, with Cari Rae and Jordy Asher spinning the dazzling dynamics. The sound is uncomplicated but boasts power station levels of pent-up energy. Their chemistry is obvious, a remarkable achievement given that Blonds only convened at the tail-end of 2011. Is it asking too much of my favourite friends to take these songs for real? KD
