Harper Simon’s new LP is called ‘Division Street’ and for a minute I thought I’d spotted the primary influence in it’s naming. With receding braincells […]

Conor Mason – Words
For a man with such a genuine craft for writing beautifully soothing songs it is puzzling that notices of his existence are few and far between on home soil. Much be frustrating for the Derry man considering what big suckers we Irish are for acoustic led ditties. Regardless, Conor Mason ploughs away and his 3rd album ‘Standstill’, released in March, is his latest attempt to set the record straight. As ever there is richness in the detail, even if it can appear subliminal at times. Mason and his ilk are the bards we need to treasure, the ones that have the songs that are locked inside a safe that require a little time and patience to crack. Here is ‘Words’, let it be your first handshake with this talent. At which point you can then toddle to Conor Mason in Twisted Pepper on August 25th. KD
