DIIV – How Long Have You Known

I’ve sat on this for a while, it being the archetypal tune that forever finds its way onto this blog I thought that the passage of time might reduce its sweet scent and thereby send it cascading in the direction of the recycle bin. But no matter what I try to do to reinvent I always return to the sound of the soaring indie anthem. Cole Smith of Beach Fossils is responsible for DIIV (nee Dive) and ‘How Long Have You Known’ is one of several sparkling efforts on their debut ‘Oshin’ which came out on the impressively retro heeled Captured Tracks label. What this tune lacks in innovation it more than makes up for in the glorious union of soaring guitar chimes and beautifully judged vocals. KD
