Adam And Darcie – Manuela Spinelli
What with her introduction to that RTE programme where non musicians try to becomes ones overnight it seems that Trap’s trusty translator could become a little better known in her adopted country. Of course if you are Republic of Ireland fan you’ll know her as the lady that makes the impossible sound possible. Before the swoonsome California based duo of Adam & Darcie tackled (!) the subject we’re pretty sure that Manuela Spinelli was never the focus of a musical composition. But that all changed when Euro 2012 swung around and we put the feelers out to our favourites acts about writing a song for the Boys In Green. The result was an 11 track album called ‘Sing Up For The Boys In Green‘ and ‘Manuela Spinelli’ was undoubtedly one of the highlights. It’ll probably never grace the terraces of Landsdowne Road but it could well put a smile on our face after the Germans deconstruct our brave if slightly brittle team tomorrow night. KD
