This already has the feel of a sleeper classic, the way those Waitresses and St. Etienne/Tim Burgess songs have appeared from nowhere to become perennials on Best-Of Christmas comps. The song was the standout from last year’s impressive collaboration, called ‘This Is Christmas’, between Ash’s lead singer Tim Wheeler and the cootastic Emma Lee-Moss. ‘Home For The Holidays’ might be a title deemed necessary to appeal to a stateside audience but you’ll soon forget such flagrant commerciality when you discover the delightful moving parts within. The singers have perfect chemistry and the presence of strings gives ‘Home For The Holidays’ a natural advantage over your run of the mill yuletide sing-a-along. KD
