It has been a few years since the great Bergen breakout and since that intriguing turn of musical events not a great deal has surfaced from Norway. That is until Trondheim 3-piece Angelica’s Elegy shuffled into view quite recently. Their debut album ‘Gold Celeste’ is due later this year and it will be preceded by a single ‘Rewind All Your Footsteps’. And what a artfully dishevelled piece of artistry it is too, almost classically trained in parts but mostly wonderfully casual in addressing its genius. The b-side ‘Rapid Changes’ is also exquisite, like a cover of a Lemon Jelly tune but with slinky vocals thrown into the mix. A very exciting prospect this lot, chances are they may not even realise it yet. KD
