Laurie Cameron – Merry Christmas from Scotland (Lulled With a Stiff Drink)

Laurie Cameron

Ok, that Petra Glynt track was probably a bit obtuse for early December so in an effort to redress the balance in favour of joy and triumphant sounds here is a beautiful track from Scottish bard Laurie Cameron. Although ‘Merry Christmas from Scotland (Lulled With a Stiff Drink)’ came out last Christmas it has emerged again for Christmas 2013 as a freebie from Cameron’s bandcamp. The song marks a hat trick of Christmas songs from the young singer after another impressive original ‘One Christmas Fall’ and a lucid retelling of Darlene Love’s ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’. The comparisons with Laura Marling are inevitable yet Cameron’s compositions are much lighter of tone. ‘Merry Christmas from Scotland (Lulled With a Stiff Drink)’ is such a quiet little thing and never outgrows it 5 minutes plus running time.
