Marrow – She Chose You

Chicago band Marrow were once Kids These Days and the experience and ultimate dissolution of their first incarnation appears to have strengthened their resolve to create songs with inbuilt longevity. You can tell as much from ‘She Chose You’ from their current album, which doesn’t do anything too radical but has the wherewithal to infiltrate your bones the way few songs can. Perhaps it’s the way it surges and retreats so regally, with vocals so reminiscent of Ron Sexsmith, or maybe it’s just the narrative that strikes a chord with such lofty grace. Either way this sticks out from the less than throbbing mass for its sheer craft and fluid delivery. Just like Grandaddy used to do. KD
