There may be something wrong with me, on the face of it I should be fodder for Bon Iver’s charms yet I remained unconvinced by ‘For Emma, Forever Ago’. I’m sure the magic will reveal itself when least expected but for the moment I will have to make do with what he’s done with the Rosebuds ‘Get Up Get Out’. Such a slinky thing, an acoustic heart given a bolt of reserved green energy it makes for perfect background music (in a kind of, I like that, wonder who it is kind of way). It is just one of several remixes of tracks from the Raleigh bands’ 2007 album ‘Night Of The Furies‘ that can be downloaded for free from the Merge Records website. The whole thing is so life affirming you may find yourself ditching your idyllic remote cabin for a shoebox apartment in the nearest metropolis. KD
