Do you know for the longest time I just didn’t get LCD Soundsystem. In my book there aren’t that many songs as irritating as ‘Daft Punk Are Playing At My House’, talk about melody-free and perforatingly repetitive. Then something great in the form of ‘Someone Great‘ had me scrambling for the excuses, revising those snarky posts and generally extolling the virtues of this Irishless Murphy. Who would have thought that someone with a double chin could record such cool music? Well, pretty soon after that sonic epiphany ‘The Sound Of Silver’ became a fixture in chez hugger and LCD Soundsystem moments became as treasured as Willy Wonka viewings. Here is the closing track from that aforementioned 2007 album, it’s non dancey but the last thing it will do is bring you down. KD
