Meursault – The Furnace

This pleases me no end, primarily because it’s a fantastic piece of music but also due to the fact that it comes via Song, By Toad Records, an offshoot of the wonderful Edinburgh blog Song, By Toad. Run by an irrepressible Englishman named Matt this is a label well deserving of your attention and given the strength of the song choices on the blog you know you are in for a treat. And Meursault amply prove the point by delivering a wildly exciting album ‘Pissing on Bonfires/Kissing with Tongues’ full of electronic beats and traditional dalliances. ‘The Furnace’ is one of its incandescent tracks defined by a giddily plucked banjo and a vocal turn that mimics a recently evacuated insane asylum. This is Dan Deacon with more instruments and several better party tricks. KD

Thanks, mate, very much appreciated. We’ll have this as a 7″ fairly soon, I think. That’s the plan at least.
