So we return to Hot Lava for what feels like the umpteenth time. Can’t be helped I suppose given the incandescent brilliance of last year’s ‘Lavalogy’. It just keeps shuffling into view and keeps notching up the play counts, none more so that the mildly scatty ‘Apple Option Fire’. To be frank there are just too many winning ideas floating around this sub 3 minutes piece of audio gold to ever warrant thinking of other tunes. Seems the quartet from Virginia are playing CMJ in good auld Brooklyn next month, expect a memorable performance because rock doesn’t get more molten than this. If only I had their ideas. KD
