What would you get if Lou Reed crossed swords with Stereolab, a pretty fine mess I think you’d agree but one that’d be too good to miss. Something like Voice of The Seven Thunders’ ‘Dalälven’ in fact – an atmospheric cavalcade of psych noise that could well be spoilt if it were to reveal its vocal side. Led by the prolific Rick Tomlinson this is an incarnation without bulbous features and banjo escapades. Instead we get an elaborately constructed plume of noise that is both menacing and downright electrifying. A royle treat. KD
