By the time you reach an age where you can discover music by yourself rather than relying on parents or the cool kids it is inevitable that bragging about acts like the Beatles and the Stones will be met with a passé response. How then to uncover something that rarely gets mentioned in dispatches but is every bit as wonderful as all those legacy acts. Why Nick Drake of course, he of the acoustic and orchestral backdrops and those fey, almost retiring, vocals. His music takes time to work its magic but magical is what it is, there’s hardly a weak moment to be found on each of his 3 albums. So sad how it all ended but it was probably in keeping with his fragile, yet consuming output. KD
