You wait for over 20 years for a new Ride track to come along and then a pair of them arrive within the space of 24 hours ago. ‘Charm Assault’ was released on YouTube yesterday, but today’s effort ‘Home is a Feeling’ is far better and more representative of the Ride shoegaze sound of yore. We’re talking ‘Nowhere’, or perhaps even further back to those early EP releases, and given producer Alan Moulder is involved on the forthcoming album, on Wichita Recordings, it probably comes as no surprise that the atmospheric swirls recall some of their best moments. And even at this early juncture it sounds as good as the classics. In the process the Oxford quartet have put it up to Slowdive who also emerged from hibernation in the first few weeks of 2017.
