A thinker for sure and as it is operating through a prism of classic folk structures there is light all around even if the theme is anything but. ‘Sinner’ never settles, looking for clear answers and given its heft of personality it could well find them. The arrangements are noteworthy, but the real surprise is the lead singer (Anna Horvath, Toronto) who has the power to join the dots in the ever mysterious drama. And all conceived with such a spiritual integrity it makes for one of the most illuminating songs of the year. KH
