Had to lock myself away for this one, in the bathroom so the kids were kept at bay, to ensure I could gorge on something terrific but so in keeping with the last century. ‘Oceans’ certainly has that dreampop/shoegaze aura, the kind that has us thinking beyond the routine and for greater meaning – deep I know. Jangling chords will do that and with vocals that are superbly judged this sounds effortlessly Slowdive but then and now. In other words it completely absorbs us to leave the taste of brilliantly judged nostalgia and plenty of this Brooklyn’s troupe own individual effervescence in our heads for hours. KH
