I got the out in nature feeling pretty much from the off here, topped by a Malmö singer who comes across as if she has had the garden all to herself for the afternoon. ‘Birds’ is flush with innocence, a stripped back approach so we can concentrate on a talent who has a different century approach that is not encumbered by the trappings of senseless production techniques. Matilda has gone back to basics or never lost that childlike wonder to do anything other than let all that inner freedom out into the world for the rest of us to feel better about ourselves. KH
