Always expect the chill to descend when Birds are Better (Stian Fjelldal) enter the room and that steady hand is a rarity in 2024. ‘In The Corner Of The Song’ as a song has such a tender side it makes for a restorative experience, a gradual build that never pushes beyond that of lullaby so come the end we’re left with a belly-full of calm with those softly dispatched melodies ringing in our ear. You’ll be reminded of Sufjan Stevens but for me Birds are Better go beyond that and into a romantic realm all of their own making. KH
