Donny Hue And The Colors – Humming With The Flowerbirds

I hope you have room in your heart for another Brooklyn band because Donny Hue and the Colors are worth it. For one thing doesn’t it feel kinda refreshing to hear sleigh bells on a tune that belongs in a warmer season? This band are big fans of that musical device in fact because they brought out a Christmas EP last December called ‘Mr. Red Blues’. ‘Humming with the Flowerbirds’ is taken from their debut ‘Folkmote’ and is bursting at the seams with honeyed melodies, lightly brushed glockenspiel and a guitar turn the likes of which you’d expect to hear on a stage erected on a white sandy beach surrounded by an audience well into their 6th cocktail. Blissful in other words. KD
